Nicosia Hotels and Accommodation

(Nicosia, Cyprus)

Scenic cityscape viewThere really is not much in the way of budget accommodation in the Nicosia / Lefkosia area of Cyprus, with hotels being especially pricey between May and September, and considerably more expensive than their equivalent counterparts on mainland Turkey. In North Nicosia, budget hotels are grouped around the Selimiye Mosque and around the Girne Caddesi.

Most budget lodging and cheap hotels have been upgraded in recent years and now fall into the mid-range category of accommodation. If you are simply looking for a cheap place to stay in South Nicosia, then consider the youth hostel on the Tefkrou (close to the Plateia Eleftherias), or the B&Bs / guest houses along the Solonos.

Where to Stay

Mid-range accommodation tends to be the most plentiful in South Nicosia, being perfect for families and well placed to access the beaches of Kyrenia and North Cyprus in general. However, if you are travelling on your own, you will find that hotels aren't particularly keen on single guests. Popular mid-range hotels include the Classic on the Rigenis, the Castelli on the Ouzounian, and the Cleopatra on the Florinis.

At the top end of the accommodation market in Nicosia, the hotels tend to be familiar brands, offering a high standard of lodging, modern design, onsite restaurants and swimming pools. The very best include the Cyprus Hilton on the Leoforos Arhiepiskopou Makariou III, the Holiday Inn Nicosia on the Rigenis, and the Forum by InterContinental on the Leoforos Georgiou Griva Digeni.
